unless you’ve been living under a rock with earplugs in your ears and a blindfold on, you have heard about the tragic earthquake that struck haiti just over 2 weeks ago. and i am sure most of you have seen the news updates and reports on the destruction and devastation that this horrible event has caused.
i am also sure, if you have been following the story at all, that you have heard of the global outpouring of aid. the fact that so many people and organizations from around the world are pitching in and doing what they can to help out both inspires me and warms my heart. it is wonderful that so many people are donating their time, money and/or service towards haitian relief efforts in so many ways. it is amazing what can happen when people join together and work towards a common goal.
absolutely events wants to help out in the wake of this crisis. there is no doubt that the recovery from this horrendous earthquake that struck haiti will be long. and rough. we want to do what we can to help. so, for every wedding we book in february 2010, we will be donating $50 of the initial deposits that we receive from our couples towards the american red cross. and for any of our past or present couples who would like to assist, we will help in facilitating any donations you would like to make and routing those monies to the american red cross as well.
please help us in helping haiti!
i have the opportuntiy to be surrounded by beautiful things often, working in this industry. and while most beautiful things inspire me and hold my attention at least for a short while, i sometimes come across a painting, a photograph, a blog, a website, a display, a floral arrangement or some other type of image or item that takes my breath away, inspires me, and leaves me hungry for more. i have an insatiable appetite when it comes to these visuals. such was the case when i discovered the work of shannon from beach bride photography.
beach bride photography was the photographer for one of the weddings that we were able to take part in and coordinate this fall. as soon as my bride for this wedding let me know she had hired her photographer, i was on the beach bride website and blog to check things out, of course! and . . . . well . . . . i think i held my breath through much of the time it took me to look through every photo that was posted. and afterwards . . . . well . . . . i took a minute to catch my breath and realized i wanted more. i wanted to see more of shannon’s breathtaking work. i was hungry for more!
i received a couple of teasers from shannon from the fall wedding mentioned above, however i encourage you all to take a look at her website and blog for yourself and see if you, also, become hungry for more of her amazing work!

last sunday afternoon, before the rainy weather and storms rolled in, i had the pleasure of attending an afternoon tea party organized by the very talented kate capshaw and the san diego natural history museum. so many great vendors made contributions to the event, including culinary concepts, jewell entertainment, so belle chocolates & favors, magical party rentals, embellishmint floral and event design, and resolusean photography. it was a fun afternoon of catching up with some friends i had worked with before that i hadn’t seen in a while as well as meeting many new, wonderful people! all in all a fabulous day!!!

the floral centerpieces for each table were different, and all were stunning! i had a hard time choosing a favorite, because the crystals that were dripping from the stands with a few of the centers definitely caught my attention. what can i say? i love crystals! but if i had to choose a favorite, it would have to be a bouquet that became a centerpiece. scroll down to the bottom to see it . . .
good evening everyone! so . . . i have had quite a week, just chalk-full of wonderful news! and i am completely ecstatic to share most of it with you all! some of the news . . . well, you’ll find out about later. hey, i’ve got to keep you interested in checking back in every once in a while somehow, right? :)

so this evening’s post does not have to do directly with weddings or events. i know – you thought this was a wedding blog, right? well i think you’ll forgive me after you see what it’s about, because it’s pretty awesome! the link i am providing below is not a link to a wedding party dancing down the aisle (although that has to be one of my favorite YouTube videos this year!). however, it is a link to a video that i find completely fascinating and creative.
the video is a palindrome. a palindrome reads the same backwards as forwards. so, this video reads the exact opposite backwards as forwards. not only this, but the meaning is the exact opposite, backwards to forward. make sure you read it as well as listen - both forward and backward. the video was submitted in an AARP contest titled “u @ 50″ by a 20-year old. it won second place. supposedly, when it was showed the audience was awe-struck and broke into spontaneous applause. i think you will see why once you see it for yourself!
last night i received a wonderful gift through my e-mail; the pro pics from courtney’s and armando’s fall wedding at the san diego wild animal park! it was truly a joy to work with courtney and armando! they were such a fun, spirited and playful couple with contagious laughs and smiles! not only did we have an awesome couple, but we had amazing vendors we were lucky enough to meet and work with on this wedding! the list includes the extremely talented jen & eddie campos of pasion photography, who provided us with said wonderful gift, the awesome and energetic vynce pham of music phreek, the gorgeous florals from avenue bloom and the yummy cake that fit perfectly with the wedding theme from crumbs of paris. thank you again to all of the people who helped in creating such a fun and perfect day for courtney and armando!
and thank you pasion photography for providing us with photos! we’ll be updating our gallery on our website soon with all of the pics we received, but for now here are a few for you all to enjoy!
the wild animal park has some truly spectacular spots for photos, don’t you think?
the flower girls were completely adorable in their tutus! i wish we had video of the girls chatting with each other while all of the ducks (you can’t see them all but there were probably about 15 or so) swarmed them making a ruckus! it was really comical! never a dull moment at the wild animal park!
the bride and groom have such fun personal style, and we were able incorporate their own unique taste and personal items while embracing the wild animal prints and theme. animal prints, apple green, and varying shades of purple and violet created a playful and fresh motif!

i have always LOVED organizing and planning parties and events. i have always LOVED working with people and hearing about their lives, experiences and ideas. and i have always LOVED witnessing beautiful moments and creating beautiful “things.” eventually, and fortunately for me, these LOVES of mine led me into the wonderful world of weddings and events! i am blessed to be spending much of my time creating memorable moments with brides and grooms. to me, it is not “work” or a “job” because it is my passion! there is a saying; “do what you love. love what you do.” there is so much truth in this, don’t you think?
